Apply to join the Black Artists + Designers Guild (BADG)
One of the missions of BADG is to create visibility and opportunities for the members within the BADG community. We see our directory as a direct conduit between the media, manufacturers, developers, and homeowners. This exposure leads to increased traffic on our members own websites, as well as opportunities for custom projects, exhibitions, speaking engagements and brand partnerships.
BADG is currently seeking experienced artists + designers who are self-employed, actively practicing their craft and identify as Black and of the African diaspora. We are accepting applications in the following areas of concentration: fine art, furniture design, ceramics, textiles, interior design, and architecture. At this time, BADG is limited to the above listed art and design disciplines and no other creative fields will be considered.
Prospective applicants are reviewed by current members in the BADG community. Each application is carefully reviewed by a rotating committee.

APPLICATION CHECKLIST
The following are required to be considered for a membership.
Active Studio Practice: Minimum 3 years of ownership of art studio practice and/or design business.
Online Presence: Active and current professional website and public Instagram page.
Portrait: High resolution portrait image.
Bio: Full description of you and your company including the mission and philosophical direction of your practice (50 words or less).
Portfolio: 10 high resolution photos of completed projects/work with a clear point of view. (i.e.“My art practice focuses on the experiences of Black women.” “My design practice specializes in minimalism combined with global influences for residential and commercial interiors.”)
Fine Artists, Furniture Designers, Ceramicists + Textile Designers: In addition to the hi-res images of complete work, your portfolio should include examples of exhibitions, residencies, and/or distribution channels that include retailers, galleries, interior designers/architects or other.
Architects + Interior Designers: Your portfolio should include an assortment of bespoke projects for residential, commercial and or hospitality projects.
*We do not consider storyboards as completed projects.
Collaboration: To maximize your membership, individuals should prepare to participate in business development and professional opportunities. (i.e., Dining by Design 2019, NYC; Texas Contemporary, Houston TX; Beyond the Mask, High Point, NC)
